Big Idea: I can trust God!

Bible Story: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego - Daniel 3:1-28

What you do

  1. Watch the worship and story video together (and learn the verse of the month!!)

  2. Talk about each of the questions to keep the conversation going

  3. Pray together!

  4. Make it - check out our suggested art activity.

  5. Move it - to have some fun, move around, and reinforce the big idea!

Verse of the Month

Trust in the Lord (point up)

with all, (arms out wide)

your heart (hands over heart)

Proverbs 3:5 (open hands like a book)

God gave us the words of the Bible to show us who He is!

Practice the verse a few times! In Mission Kids, we often practice saying it different ways, like sqeaky, SUPER LOUD, or with a roar!

Talk It Out

  1. King Nebuchadnezzar thought he was so important, what did do to show everyone he was important? (He had a huge golden statue made of himself)

  2. What did the King tell everyone to do? (He said every time the music played the people had to bow down to his statue.)

  3. What would happen if you didn’t bow down? (You would get thrown in the fire)

  4. Who didn’t bow down to the statue and why? (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They believed in the one true God and would only bow down to Him.)

  5. What did the King do? (He threw them in the fire.)

  6. How do you think Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego felt when they knew they were going to go into the fire?

  7. What happened in the fire? (Because they trusted God, He sent an angel to protect them)

  8. Sometimes doing the right thing can be a little scary, but who will always help us? (God is always with us and will always help us.)

  9. Who can you trust? (I can trust in God!)

Pray Together

Before you pray, make a list of places you go. (grandparents’ house, favorite place to eat, the store, etc.) When you are done, pray together using the one below or your own.

“Dear God, thank you for always being with us. Thank You for being with us when we go to . . . (read the list you made.) We know we can trust You with all our hearts because You love us so much. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

MAKE IT // ART ACTIVITY

What you need: Activity page (view/print below or grab from your July Church Kit!), red, orange, and yellow dot stickers or crayons, and a glue stick.

What you do:

  1. Work together to glue the characters on the page.

  2. Place their dot stickers all over like fire!

  3. Remind your kiddo, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego trusted God, and God saved them! We can trust that God will be with us, too. I can trust God, and you can trust God!”

MOVE IT // ACTIVE ACTIVITY

What you need: Activity Cards (view/print below or pull from your July Church Kit!)

What you do:

  1. Lay the picture cards in a pile on the floor.

  2. Have the kiddos pick up one card at a time and match them to the number 3 or 4.

YOU DID IT!

Continue the conversation all week by reminding each other of all the ways that we can trust God!
