Big Idea: God is powerful!

Bible Story: God Made Me - Genesis 1:26; Psalm 139:14

What you do

  1. Watch the worship and story video together (and learn the verse of the month!!)

  2. Talk about each of the questions to keep the conversation going

  3. Pray together!

  4. Make it - check out our suggested art activity.

  5. Move it - to have some fun, move around, and reinforce the big idea!

Verse of the Month

Great (jazz hands)

is our Lord (point up)

and mighty in power (fists on hips)

Psalm 147:5 (open hands like a book)

God gave us the words of the Bible to show us who He is!

Practice the verse a few times! In Mission Kids, we often practice saying it different ways, like sqeaky, SUPER LOUD, or with a roar!

Talk It Out

  1. Who made the world? (God did)

  2. What is God’s most amazing creation? (People)

  3. What did God need to make the world and people? (His power)

  4. Did God make us all the same? (No)

  5. What are some things that are different about people?

  6. What are some things that are different about animals?

  7. Would you want to be made the same as everyone else?

  8. What is something that is different about you?

  9. Who is powerful? (God is powerful!)

Pray Together

Make a list of things God made. Then, pray together using the one below or your own:

“Dear God, thank you for making such a wonderful world filled with so many wonderful things. Help us remember how powerful you are every time we see a (read the list you made). God, thank you for making (say your kiddo’s name). Help us always remember how special they are because you made us. We love You, God. Amen.”

MAKE IT // ART ACTIVITY

Wk 1 Craft.png

What you need: Activity page (view/print below or grab from your August Church Kit!), metal brad fasteners, and markers or crayons

What you do:

  1. Work with your kiddo to color the circles.

  2. Put circle one on top of circle two and work together to place the brad in the center.

  3. As your kiddo turns the wheel, talk about the pictures and creation.

  4. Remind your kiddo, “Only God is powerful enough to make everything out of nothing. So when I say,’Who is powerful?’, you can say, ‘God is powerful.’ Who is powerful? God is powerful!”

MOVE IT // ACTIVE ACTIVITY

What you need: Various items like plush animals, baby dolls, toys, trucks etc.

What you do:

  1. Spread your gathered items around the room, and designate a spot where the items will be placed after being gathered.

  2. Encourage your kiddo to scoop up the items and dump them in the designated area, while making noises like a big digger.

  3. Remind your kiddo that diggers are powerful, but God is even more powerful than diggers.

YOU DID IT!
