Love, Mission Kids

This Sunday, we’re discovering…

Main Point: Jesus loves me!

Bible Story: Jesus and the children - Luke 18:15-16

What you do

  1. Watch the worship and story video together (and learn the verse of the month!!)

  2. Talk about each of the questions to keep the conversation going

  3. Pray together!

  4. Make it - check out our suggested art activity.

  5. Move it - to have some fun, move around, and reinforce the big idea!

Verse of the Month

A friend (hook your fingers together)

loves (hug yourself)

at all times (spin in a circle with arms out)

Proverbs 17:17 (hold hands like an open book)

God gave us the words of the Bible to show us who He is!

Practice the verse a few times! In Mission Kids, we often practice saying it different ways, like sqeaky, SUPER LOUD, or with a roar!

Talk it through together

  1. Who were the very important people who came to see Jesus? (the children)

  2. Who stopped the children? (the disciples)

  3. What did Jesus do when he saw what the disciples did? (He said, “Let the children come to me.”)

  4. Why did Jesus want the children to come to him? (because they are important to Him)

  5. How does it make you feel to know that you are important to Jesus?

  6. Who loves you? (Jesus loves me!)

Pray Together

Before you pray, ask your kiddo to tell you the name of a friend. Then pray together using the one below or your own.

“Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus to love everyone. Thank You that Jesus didn’t just come to be a friend to grown-ups. He came to be a friend to kids, too! Jesus wants to be (kiddos name)’s friend forever, and He wants to be (kiddo’s friend’s name)’s friend forever, too. Jesus wants all children to be His friend forever! Please help us tell all of our friends that Jesus loves them and wants to be their friend forever. We love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

MAKE IT // ART ACTIVITY

wk1.png

What you need: Activity Page (view/print below or grab from your February Church Kit), crayons or markers.

What you do:

  1. Use your crayons or markers to draw some friends in the sandbox.

  2. Next, write your friends' names at the bottom of the page.

  3. Remind your kiddo that Jesus loves all children and He wants them to be His friend forever.

MOVE IT // ACTIVE ACTIVITY

What you need: no materials needed

What you do:

  1. Have one person stand on one side of the room (the clapper), and another stand on the other side of the room with their eyes closed.

  2. When the “clapper” starts clapping the kiddo with their eyes closed will walk to the “clapper.”

  3. To make this a little harder have the clapper move to a new position so the person with their eyes closed has to change direction.

  4. Remind your kiddo that Jesus told the children, “Come to me!” Jesus loves us, so much. Who loves you? Jesus loves me!

YOU DID IT!

Continue the conversation all week by reminding each other of all the ways God is amazing!
