Main Point: Jesus wants to be my friend forever
Bible Story: Easter - Matthew 26:20-28:1-7
What you do
Watch the worship and story video together (and learn the verse of the month!!)
Talk about each of the questions to keep the conversation going
Pray together!
Make it - check out our suggested art activity.
Move it - to have some fun, move around, and reinforce the big idea!
Verse of the Month
How wide (hold arms out wide)
and long (raise one hand high and hold one hand low)
and high (both arms up)
and deep (both arms toward floor)
is the love (hug yourself)
of Christ (point upward)
Ephesians 3:18 (hold hands like an open book)
God gave us the words of the Bible to show us who He is!
Practice the verse a few times! In Mission Kids, we often practice saying it different ways, like sqeaky, SUPER LOUD, or with a roar!
Talk It Out
What did Jesus tell His friends when they were eating together? (Jesus said that He was going to go away, but He would come back.)
How do you think Jesus’ friends felt when they heard Jesus was going away?
What happened when Jesus was praying in the garden? (Some angry men came to take Jesus away.)
What did the angry men do to Jesus? (They hurt Him and Jesus died.)
How did Jesus’ friends feel when Jesus died? How would you feel?
How many days was Jesus’ body in the tomb? (Three)
What happened when Jesus’ friends went to the tomb on the third day? (The tomb was empty, but the good news is that Jesus came back!)
How did Jesus’ friends feel when Jesus came back? (They were so happy.)
Why do we celebrate Easter? (We celebrate because Jesus is alive.)
Who wants to be your friend forever? (Jesus wants to be my friend forever!)
Pray Together
Before you pray, make a list of things that are super tall or high up (trees, kites, stars, etc.) Add one more thing to the list —Jesus’ love. Pray together using the one below or your own.
“Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus to be our friend forever. Thank You that He came back and will always love us, no matter what. Jesus’ love for us is higher than (read the list you made). That is some BIG love! Thank You again for our friend, Jesus. We love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
MAKE IT // ART ACTIVITY
What you need: Easter storybook activity page (view/print below or grab from your April Church Kit), Heart Stickers, Smiley face stickers, food stickers, crayons or markers, brown paint or a brown marker/crayon, paintbrush, and water.
What you do:
Color each picture with your crayons.
Place the heart stickers on the picture where Jesus is standing in the heart.
Place the food stickers on the picture with the table.
Place the smiley stickers on the page with just Jesus.
Fold your book so that Jesus in the heart is the first page, and then read it together.
Jesus went away and came back, just like He said He would. We celebrate today because it’s Easter and Jesus is alive!
MOVE IT // ACTIVE ACTIVITY
What you need: Happy/Sad Page (view/print below or grab from your April Church Kit), Story page (view/print below)
What you do:
Place the happy face on one side of the room and the sad face on the other.
As you read the story your kiddo will move to the happy face or the sad face, and then go back to the middle of the room until they have to move again.

Continue the conversation all week by reminding each other of all the ways Jesus shows that he loves us!
