Bible Story: Washing Feet - John 13:3-17

Verse of the Month
Love each other (hug yourself)
as I (point up)
have loved you (thumbs toward self)
John 15:12 (hold hands like an open book)
God gave us the words of the Bible to show us who He is!
Practice the verse a few times! In Mission Kids, we often practice saying it different ways, like sqeaky, SUPER LOUD, or with a roar!
Talk It Out
Who was Jesus with at dinner? (all of His friends)
What did Jesus do when He knelt down? (He was going to wash His friends’ feet)
Do you think the disciples’ feet were stinky and dirty?
What do you think the disciples felt like when Jesus wanted to wash their feet?
Why did Jesus want to wash His friends’ feet? (because He wanted to show them that He loved them)
What are some ways we can show love to other people around us? (share, let someone go in front of you, etc.)
Pray Together
Before you pray, make a list with your kiddo of ways you can show your friends you love them. Then pray together using the one below or your own.
“Dear God, we want to be a good friend and love others the way Jesus loves us. Will you help (kiddos name and the things on the list) so we can be good friends and love others the way Jesus loves us? We love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.
MAKE IT // ART ACTIVITY
What you need: Activity Page (view/print below or grab from your March Church Kit), scissors, and a red and black crayon.
What you do:
Cut out your racing flag.
Color the squares without hearts black, and the squares with hearts red.
When we love like Jesus, we can be good friends, like Jesus was when He washed his friends’ feet. Who can love like Jesus? I can love like Jesus.

For this activity, we are doing fun things with our feet! Use the prompts below and get some wiggles out.

Stomp your feet
March in place
Continue with more things you can do with your feet!
Remind your kiddo about the story and how Jesus washed His friends’ feet. Who can love like Jesus? I can love like Jesus!

Continue the conversation all week by reminding each other of all the ways Jesus shows that he loves us!
