This Sunday, we’re discovering…

Big Idea: When we need help, we can ask for God’s guidance

Bible Story: Solomon Becomes King: I Kings 2:10-12; 3:3-14

WHAT YOU DO

  1. Watch the video! Sing and dance along to the worship songs, watch the Bible story, and connect the big idea to real life!

  2. Talk about each of the questions to keep the conversation going

  3. Do the activity together to have some fun and reinforce the big idea!

Talk It Through Together

Question of the day! (all ages!)

  • Go around the room and ask the question: “What are your top 3 favorite cereals?”

Story Questions:

  1. What did God ask Solomon in the dream? (God told Solomon to ask him for whatever he wanted!)

  2. What did Solomon ask for? (Wisdom!)

  3. What did God do after Solomon asked for wisdom? (God told him that since he asked for wisdom instead of anything else, God would give me the things I didn't ask for: money and fame.)

  4. Who is someone in your life who can give you guidance?

  5. When was a time when you needed God’s guidance?

Connect to the Big Idea (ACTIVITY)

  1. Use the two parts of the clapperboard printable (view/print below or pull from your August Church Kit!), a piece of black craft paper, a brass fastener, and a white crayon for the activity!

  2. Cut out the clapperboard pieces, then tape or glue the part with the hinge along the side of the black paper.

  3. Then fasten the second piece with the brass fastener by lining up the holes.

  4. On the black paper, draw two horizontal lines to create three rows where you can describe three different ways God helps you!

A movie scene is rarely (if ever) recorded in one take. Because it takes many tries to get it right, and you can't just keep switching the camera on and off, movie people use clappers to indicate where a new take of the same scene begins. When we need help, we can ask God for guidance, no matter how many times we ask for help. God is always ready to spring into action for us . . . whether it's take one or take 51!

That’s a wrap on Church at Home!
