Questions for 1st-3rd Graders
Where were people coming from to meet Jesus? (all over!!)
What did Jesus say “yes” to? (Dying on the cross!)
Is it easy to say “yes” to God’s plan when you don’t know what’s going to happen?
What is something that you can say “yes” to this week?
Questions for 4th-5th Graders
What kind of seed/grain did Jesus talk about?
What did Jesus say “yes” to?
Read John 12:32, “And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”
Who did Jesus say would be drawn to him when He was lifted up?
Is it easy to say “yes” to God’s plan when you don’t know what’s going to happen?
What is something you can say “yes” to this week?
3. DO IT // ACTIVITY
ACTIVITY 1: “Your Yes”
Grab the “Your Yes” card from your March Church Kit, or view/print below!
On the back of the card, write something that you can say “yes” to this week.
These things may be hard to do, but we can do them because of love (e.g., help around the house, give someone a compliment, make someone smile).
After you write your idea down, put this card somewhere you can see it and be reminded of your “Yes!” to God this week!
ACTIVITY 2: Seeds!
Read John 12:23-25: “Jesus said to them, ‘The time has come for the Son of Man to receive his glory. It is a fact that a grain of wheat must fall to the ground and die before it can grow and produce much more wheat. If it never dies, it will never be more than a single seed. Whoever loves the life they have now will lose it. But whoever is willing to give up their life in this world will keep it. They will have eternal life.’”
The only way a seed can grow is if it falls to the ground. This path to becoming a plant means that the seed has to "die" – it won’t be a seed anymore. Without being planted, watered, and nurtured, the seed would just stay a seed and not become anything more!
Plant the seeds in your March Church Kit (or grab some from a fresh fruit in your house!), care for them (water + sunlight!!), and watch it do what it was made to do--grow!
YOU DID IT!
